This is a charity event for Friends of Kids in Crisis. The Friends of Kids in Crisis was founded in 1997, when concerned individuals from the community identified a need to support The Family Crisis Center and other local children's charitable organizations. The Family Crisis Center is located in Denver and currently shelters children ages 10 to 18 whose lives have been impacted by abuse or neglect. The Family Crisis Center seeks to provide new opportunities for children and adolescents that will enhance their lives and ability to function in the community.

Westminster's Sunstream Neighborhood

The Sunstream nieghborhood in Westminster, Colorado is a great family-friendly, quiet nieghborhood located half-way between downtown Denver and Boulder. The Sunstream neighborhood is right next to Standley Lake, where there are miles of unpaved trails for running, walking, or biking. You can take a boat on Standley Lake up to 20 horsepower without a permit, larger boats require you to obtain a permit. A lottery is held each year to get a permit. Standley Lake also has a great picnic area and a Bald Eagle viewing area near the visitor center. There is a pair of Bald Eagles that nest at Standley Lake year round. There is a nice campground at Standley Lake too.

There are numerous parks near the Sunstream neighborhood. You can take a pleasant walk down the Big Dry Creek trail to King Soopers, restaurants, bars, and other stores. The Big Dry Creek trail continues for twelve miles all the way to I-25. I live in Sunstream and love being able to go for a run or bike ride right from my front door.

The Sunstream neighborhood was built in 1978 and has ranch style homes, tri-levels, bi-levels, and two-story homes. The nieghbors are friendly and there are lots of children in the Sunstream neighborhood. Several of the parks nearby have really nice playgrounds. The trees and landscaping in Sunstream are mature. Many homes in the Sunstream neighborhood have great mountain views. The foreclosure crisis has spared the Sunstream neighborhood.

There are currently just a few Sunstream homes for sale, priced from $198,000 to $225,000. Sunstream is a great neighborhood for first-time home buyers.

Running in Westminster, Colorado - Westminster Real Estate

It's a beautiful sunny New Year's Eve here in Westminster.

I moved to Westminster last May because I'm a runner and Westminster has more miles of trails than any other city in Colorado. I live in the Sunstream neighborhood next to Standley Lake and the Big Dry Creek trail. I love how Westminster has miles of trails right out my back door with different surfaces to run on, including gravel, concrete, and dirt.

On my runs in Westminster, I've seen a bald eagle, foxes, coyotes, and a rattle snake, which I almost stepped on because I wasn't paying attention. I love to run to the bald eagle viewing area in Standley Lake Regional Park because it's beautiful and you feel like you're really out in nature even though you haven't left Westminster. In the spring,  it's fun to run to the outlet tunnels where they release water from the resevoir. There, you can see the force of the water as it gushes from the tunnels.
