Standley Lake Westminster ColoradoIt's a beautiful sunny New Year's Eve here in Westminster.

I moved to Westminster last May because I'm a runner and Westminster has more miles of trails than any other city in Colorado. I live in the Sunstream neighborhood next to Standley Lake and the Big Dry Creek trail. I love how Westminster has miles of trails right out my back door with different surfaces to run on, including gravel, concrete, and dirt.

On my runs in Westminster, I've seen a bald eagle, foxes, coyotes, and a rattle snake, which I almost stepped on because I wasn't paying attention. I love to run to the bald eagle viewing area in Standley Lake Regional Park because it's beautiful and you feel like you're really out in nature even though you haven't left Westminster. In the spring,  it's fun to run to the outlet tunnels where they release water from the resevoir. There, you can see the force of the water as it gushes from the tunnels.
